About Billy

I am a recent graduate of Texas State University’s graduate program in mental health counseling, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate, and National Certified Counselor. I am currently working under the supervision of Kristen Miciotto, LPC-S. I have worked with adults and children grieving the loss of loved ones as well as adults from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds struggling with complex histories of trauma, violence, abuse, incarceration, homelessness and substance abuse.

Having long recognized the therapeutic benefits of spending time in nature through my sixteen years experience in outdoor recreation and education, I am excited to be able to incorporate nature-based approaches in my therapy sessions.

My approach is holistic and relational, assisting clients in making sense of their relationship to self, other, and society in order to foster a sense of worth and belonging. My extensive background in anthropology has informed my understanding of the complexity of the human experience and the impact of social institutions on psychological wellbeing as well as facilitated a deep examination of my own privilege and bias.

My practice is affirming of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Neurodivergent, and Disability communities and centers decolonial practices.

My office is located in central Austin along the Shoal Creek trail with options for in-person, online, or walk and talk therapy sessions. I am currently unable to accept insurance, but I offer sliding scales that can accommodate quality service for any budget.
